Festival for World Literature

Poetica is a festival for world literature that has been organized annually since 2015 by the University of Cologne together with the German Academy for Language and Poetry, and in particular focuses on poetry as a marginalized genre of world literature. Characteristic is the combination of literature, science and the public in readings and discussions, which take place in cooperation with Cologne cultural institutions such as the Schauspiel Köln, the Literaturhaus Köln and the Stadtbibliothek Köln. Each year, a curator sets a central theme and invites authors to redraw the maps of world literature. From 2015 to 2021, Poetica was part of the Morphomata International Center for Advanced Studies.
